A couple of months ago we took a step closer to a Microsoft free office and replaced our MS Exchange email server with a Linux machine.

The primary motivation for doing this was obviously the huge saving in cost a Linux server has over a Windows counterpart and nothing to do with a personal motivation to play around with Ubuntu and learn more about Linux.

As it was my first dabble into setting up a Linux computer to run one of the core systems in the office, I thought I would share some of the articles that I found useful.

In the FHR installation I combined various sections of the articles along with knowledge gained in discussion groups and chat rooms to create a server that was running Postfix, Courier and SpamAssassin with firewall, anti-virus protection and backup facilities added in for security and peace of mind.
