Glasgow Airport gains new flight route

Passengers travelling from Glasgow Airport will now be able to visit Venice, thanks to the launch of a new flight route.

Barrhead Travel, which has 11 stores throughout Scotland, will be selling the new flight, which will be run by bmi and travel between May and September 2010.

Amanda McMillan, managing director at Glasgow Airport, said they were "delighted" with the new service.

Manchester Airport 'best in the UK'

Manchester Airport has been named as the UK Airport of the Year for 2009 by the London-based British Travel Awards.

The north-west hub, which claims to have more than 100 airline partners, was applauded for its efforts to adopt sustainable travel, as well as its investment in improving passengers' travel experience.

It has now outperformed rivals airports, including Gatwick and Heathrow, for the second year in a row at the awards.

Extra flight launched between Heathrow and Belfast International Airport

A fourth daily flight has been launched from Belfast International Airport to Heathrow.

The additional flight, with Aer Lingus, is aimed at making travelling more flexible for passengers.

The airport is now in the category for the best airport and can be voted for by members of the public.

Airport process 'made easier' by self-service check in'

Self-service check-ins will make the travel process easier for passengers using UK airports, according to the Air Transport Users Council (AUC).

James Freemantle, industry affairs manager at the AUC, said more airports in the future would start to implement "paperless travels".

He added that airports were looking to improve efficiency and cut costs.

Ten new winter routes have been launched from Stansted Airport offering passengers a greater variety of choice.

Nick Barton, commercial and development director at Stansted Airport, said the new flight launches demonstrated that the airport would continue to thrive if they offered passengers what they wanted.

He added that he was "delighted" that Ryanain, easyJet and Iceland Express were showing confidence in Stansted by introducing new flights.

Cast announced for The Misanthrope starring Keira Knightley

The full cast has been announced for the West End play starring Keira Knightley and Damian Lewis.

Nicholas Le Prevost, Tim McMullan, Chuk Iwuji and Kelly Price will be playing alongside the previously announced Tara Fitzgerald and Dominic Rowan.

They will be performing in Martin Crimp's version of Moliere's The Misanthrope.

Two new routes launched from Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Passengers travelling from Liverpool John Lennon Airport now have even more choice thanks to the launch of two new easyJet flight routes.

The budget airline has released flights to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura with its brand new Airbus 320.

Airlines switch terminals at Heathrow Airport

Gulf Air and Malaysian are the latest airlines to switch terminals at Heathrow Airport.

Both airlines now operate from Terminal 4 instead of Terminal 2.

Their move follows the preparation to close Terminal 2 for construction work on November 26th.

Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports deliver 'good performance' in 2009

Three travel hubs owned by BAA have performed well so far this year and their outlook looks set to remain positive, it has been reported.

Heathrow Airport, along with Stansted Airport and Gatwick have experienced high retail sales and have seen operational costs fall by 3.3 per cent, according to the latest results published by the BAA.

It went on to add that Heathrow Airport had achieved better service quality scores and punctuality statistics than its competitors.
