Gatwick is not the only airport affected though as employees at Stansted and Manchester are also considering industrial action over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Baggage handlers and other workers at Gatwick Airport are being balloted for strike action after the ground services firm Swissport allegedly reneged on a pay deal.

Manchester Airport loses nine Ryanair routesRyanair has revealed that it will be closing nine of its routes from Manchester Airport this autumn.

From October 1st 2009, the budget airline will no longer fly to Shannon, Milan, Marseille, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Barcelona, Cagliaro, Bremen or Brussels.

Stephen McNamara, from Ryanair, blamed the high cost of airport charges at Manchester for the move.

New name for London Oxford Airport

New name for London Oxford AirportOxford Airport has changed its name to London Oxford Airport in an attempt to raise its international profile.

Based in Kidlingto, it is 60 miles away from London city centre and 30 miles further away than the city's airports Gatwick and Luton.

Manchester Airport launches online travel guidePassengers travelling from Manchester Airport will now be able to access a unique online guide that has been designed to make their trip more enjoyable.

Launched today, the web-based service is the first of its kind.

Andrew Harrison, commercial director at the north-west travel hub, said the new product called My Airport Guide would make people's journeys much more hassle free.
