'Busy weekend' for Heathrow AirportHeathrow Airport will see an estimated 420,000 passengers travel through it at the start of the August bank holiday weekend, according to figures from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).

The last bank holiday of the year, the final weekend of August is one of the busiest of the year.

John McEwan, chairman of ABTA, said: "Many families see the bank holiday as their last ditch attempt to get a holiday abroad to get some guaranteed sunshine."

Passengers making their way to Gatwick may want to book airport car parking in advance to avoid queues as on Friday alone there will be around 126,000 people travelling from the airport.
