Aer Arann winter schedule links UK, IrelandAer Arann has unveiled its full winter schedule, which includes 18 routes that will operate between the UK and Ireland.

The carrier's seasonal network will be in effect until March 29th next year and will feature added capacity on flights between Manchester Airport and Kerry in the Republic of Ireland and more potential to carry customers between Edinburgh Airport and Galway.

A number of regional hubs will host Aer Arann flights this winter, including Bristol Airport, Leeds Bradford, Newcastle Airport, Birmingham and Cardiff Airport.

New hotel for Aberdeen Airport

New hotel for Aberdeen AirportA new flagship luxury hotel has been unveiled for Aberdeen Airport.

The £15 million, 180-bedroom establishment will be sited on Argyll Road, within walking distance of the airport's main passenger terminal.

As well as regular rooms for people travelling to and from the Scottish hub the new Marriott hotel is also set to have a conference room for meetings and social functions as well as a terraced outdoor restaurant.

Mead won his role as Joseph through BBC talent show Any Dream Will Do and has obviously made an impressive enough start to convince the show producers to keep him on.

Tickets for the musical at the Adelphi Theatre are now on sale until October 18th next year, according to the London Theatre Guide.

Bristol passengers offered new route to Canada

Bristol passengers offered new route to CanadaRegular users of Bristol Airport will have access to a new route from the south-west to Toronto, Canada next year.

Flyglobespan announced that it will launch a weekly service between Bristol and the Canadian city from May 26th.

Airline chairman Tom Dalrymple said he was "delighted" to be offering the service and predicted that the route will be "well received" by customers.

Regional airports 'handling 100m passengers a year'Annual passengers at UK regional airports have crossed the 100 million mark for the first time, nearly three times the number recorded in 1990, the latest figures show.

Statistics released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) show that in 2006 regional airports continued to grow at a faster rate (four per cent) than their London counterparts (2.5 per cent), with 42 per cent of all passengers in the UK using regional hubs last year.

International scheduled services are experiencing the strongest growth, with a twofold increase in the number of travellers using these routes between 2002 and 2006.

Long-haul growth for Gatwick in October

Long-haul growth for Gatwick in OctoberGatwick Airport saw year-on-year growth of 13.1 per cent in long-haul passenger numbers in October, the latest figures released by the hub have shown.

North American traffic was one of the most substantial contributors to overall expansion from Gatwick, with an 11.3 per cent rise in passengers last month, while the European scheduled market saw a 9.6 per cent increase in activity.

Overall, Gatwick Airport handled more than three million passengers in October, which is an increase of 4.9 per cent on the same month in 2006.

Nottingham EMA 'airport of the year'Nottingham/East Midlands Airport has been named airport of the year at the 2007 World Travel Awards.

The hub, which includes flights to Acapulco, Islamabad, Barcelona and others in its winter schedule, overcame competition from the UK's major airports to win the award.

However there were recognitions for Britain's busiest air hubs at the awards ceremony, with Gatwick Airport winning the accolade for the top UK base for leisure travel.

More transatlantic services for Heathrow next yearHeathrow Airport will host more transatlantic flights from spring next year, with Continental launching new non-stop services.

The airline will begin twice-daily flights to Heathrow from both New York and Houston from March 29th.

Continental is one of the major operators of transatlantic services, with existing connections between the Americas and Birmingham Airport, Manchester Airport, Gatwick Airport and others.

'Revolutionary' car parks for T5

'Revolutionary' car parks for T5Airports operator BAA has claimed that the airport parking facilities at Terminal Five, due to open at Heathrow Airport in March 2008, will offer "revolutionary" services to passengers.

Heathrow's new terminal will offer over 7,000 parking spaces in three new car parks, which are designed to take the 'guesswork' out of finding a space at the airport.

One of the main objectives of the new facilities is to bring passengers as close to the terminal as possible, with a new 3,800 space short-stay car park within walking distance of check-in.

New airport security measures welcomedUK airline Flybe has welcomed the government's announcement that it will be implementing new security measures at major airports.

In a speech to the House of Commons yesterday, prime minister Gordon Brown confirmed that new measures will be put in place at UK airports, including a higher number of passenger searches and more baggage screening.

Concerns have been expressed that this could lead to further delays and disruption at travel hubs but Flybe said that the government was right to take a strict approach to the issue.

Monarch brings self-service to BirminghamLow-fares airline flyMonarch has announced the introduction of a new self-service check-in option for passengers at Birmingham Airport.

Customers travelling on scheduled Monarch flights will be able to use the new common-use self-service kiosks (CUSS) in the middle of the concourse of Birmingham's first terminal.

Travellers will retrieve their booking by swiping their passport through a CUSS machine, check themselves in and receive a printed boarding card.
