More passengers through Birmingham in NovemberBirmingham Airport saw a 2.2 per cent year-on-year increase in passengers in November, with 610,216 people travelling through the hub.

This comprised 511,481 scheduled passengers and 98,735 people boarding charter flights across Birmingham's two terminals, the latest figures from the airport reveal.

Routes to the Channel Islands saw passenger growth of 30.9 per cent in November, while 11.7 per cent more people used long-haul services to Asia and transatlantic flights saw an increase of 10.2 per cent.

Edinburgh Airport reaches one-year milestoneEdinburgh Airport has reached a significant milestone in its business history, with more than nine million passengers handled over the past year, making it the busiest ever year-long period for the gateway.

In total, some 9,017,491 people travelled through Edinburgh, an increase of 4.8 per cent on the previous 12-month period.

The month of November alone brought a 31 per cent increase in international traffic, indicating the speed at which Edinburgh's route network is expanding.

Aer Lingus launches from BelfastBelfast International Airport passengers will have access to more destinations across the UK and Europe from this week with the launch of new services from Aer Lingus.

The carrier will launch its first flights from the Northern Ireland hub today, with Heathrow, Barcelona, Geneva and Amsterdam among the destinations to be served.

Aer Lingus' decision to fly from Belfast was a controversial one, which brought the threat of a strike that was narrowly avoided last month.

New Spain services launched from BirminghamBirmingham Airport hosted the launch of new services to Madrid, the capital of Spain, on December 7th.

Bmibaby, which claims to be the largest carrier based in the Midlands, launched the services and said that it is the only airline to fly to Madrid from the West Midlands.

Four services a week will be available from Birmingham Airport, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, throughout winter 2007-08.

Low-fares airline Norwegian will begin flights between the London airport and the city of Tromso in the far north of the country.

Stansted claims that Tromso is known as 'the Paris of the north', with sights including an Arctic cathedral and sweeping snowy landscapes, as well as activities such as husky-dog sledging and horse-drawn sleigh rides.

Wizz Air to link Warsaw to SheffieldTravellers using Robin Hood Doncaster/Sheffield Airport will have access to new services to Poland with low-cost carrier Wizz Air next year.

The airline confirmed that its first flights from Doncaster/Sheffield to the Polish capital will launch on April 1st and initially be operated three times a week.

Warsaw will be Wizz Air's fifth Polish Route from the northern hub, with flights currently available to Katowice and Gdansk and more services set to be launched to Poznan and Wroclaw.
