Manchester to remove one-bag restriction
Manchester Airport has announced that it will remove its 'one-bag' luggage restriction from January 7th.From that date, passengers flying from Manchester will be able to travel with more than one piece of hand baggage.
The north-west hub claims that it will be one of the first in the UK to relax the restriction on the number of items passengers are allowed to carry on flights, following government approval of the removal last year.
Manchester Airport said that the move had been made possible by "extensive investment" in new security screening machines, staff training and additional security personnel.
While travellers will be able to take more than one bag on board flights from Manchester, they will still be prohibited from carrying liquids of more than 100ml in their cabin luggage.
The one-bag rule is still in force at a number of other UK hubs, including Leeds/Bradford Airport, Gatwick and Edinburgh.
