Heathrow Airport announces lounge revamp
Heathrow Airport is to undergo a facelift designed to make it easier for passengers to get through security checkpoints. The Guardian reports that airport operator BAA intends to remove two shops from terminal three and use the space to add two new security lanes, in a bid to reduce the amount of time people have to wait before they are able to enter airport lounges
Once through, travellers will be able to enjoy a greater range of dining options, with three new restaurants scheduled to be opened.
Passengers heading off from the brand new terminal five building are also set to enjoy a speedier transit through security, with six more checkpoints installed.
Stephen Nelson, the chief executive of BAA, told the Guardian: "In putting passengers' interests first we are continually looking to balance the need to provide more security channels and seating areas with the needs of passengers who want to use the shops."
The airport continues to be a popular departure point for those heading off on holiday, with more than five million travellers passing through the airport last month, according to figures recently released by BAA.
