Passengers urged to head to airport early
People scheduled to depart from Nottingham/East Midlands Airport have been urged to ensure they don't leave it too late to head to the airport.Millions of people heading off on a festive holiday or travelling to visit family members will be on the move today, making it vital that those trying to get away ensure they get an early start.
Amy Buckley, a spokeswoman for the airport, told the BBC that around 8,500 people departed from the hub on Friday alone.
"Please allow plenty of time when travelling to the airport as roads tend to get very busy," she said.
The foggy weather conditions that have enveloped the UK over the past few days have not affected flights from Nottingham/East Midlands Airport, with officials confirming to the BBC that passengers heading off from the airport are not experiencing any major delays or cancellations.
Roads to the airports are expected to be busy but a spokesman for the RAC told Reuters: "Generally speaking the traffic has reached its peak and is on the downward spiral now towards Christmas."
