Blood Brothers booking period extended

Blood Brothers booking period extendedBlood Brothers, one of the West End's most popular and successful musicals, has had its booking period lengthened to enable viewers to see the show throughout 2008.

The extended run will see the show continue to entertain crowds at the Phoenix Theatre until November next year.

Blood Brothers is something of an anomaly in the West End, as it is the only long-running musical to have flopped before becoming a major hit.

It was originally shown at the Lyric Theatre in 1985, according to the London Theatre Guide, where it failed to make much of an impression on audiences or critics.

Bill Kenwright then picked up the rights to the production in 1987 and staged it at the Albery Theatre, where it experienced a spectacular revival that led to it being moved to the Phoenix Theatre.

The show involves a pair of twins from Liverpool who are separated at birth but come across each other again in later life.

It currently stars Jay Roberts as Mickey, Craig Whitely as Eddie, Siobhan McCarthy as Mrs Johnston and Craig Price as the narrator.
