Stansted linked to northern Norway
Stansted Airport passengers will have access to attractions such as the Northern Lights in Norway this weekend with the launch of new air services.Low-fares airline Norwegian will begin flights between the London airport and the city of Tromso in the far north of the country.
Stansted claims that Tromso is known as 'the Paris of the north', with sights including an Arctic cathedral and sweeping snowy landscapes, as well as activities such as husky-dog sledging and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
Nick Barton, business development and planning director at Stansted Airport, said that seats for the coming weekend are fully booked and predicted that Tromso will become one of the top short break options from London.
"Tromso is a lively and popular gateway for arctic adventure that plays host to the Northern Lights phenomena by winter and midnight sun by summer," he added.
"We were thrilled when Norwegian confirmed the launch of a direct connection from the UK out of Stansted."
People travelling from Stansted also have access to Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim in Norway.
