Regular users of Bristol Airport will have access to a new route from the south-west to Toronto, Canada next year.Flyglobespan announced that it will launch a weekly service between Bristol and the Canadian city from May 26th.
Airline chairman Tom Dalrymple said he was "delighted" to be offering the service and predicted that the route will be "well received" by customers.
The service will be the second transatlantic option available to people flying from Bristol Airport, a fact that was celebrated by Tony Hallwood, the hub's aviation development director.
"Securing a second transatlantic service is fantastic news and underlines Bristol International's long-haul credentials," Mr Hallwood said.
"Canada is one of the destinations most frequently requested by our passengers, so we are delighted to be able to deliver a weekly service to Toronto with Flyglobespan, commencing in May."
Bristol passengers currently have access to direct daily flights to Newark Liberty airport in New York, where connections are available to hundreds of destinations across the Americas.
