'Revolutionary' car parks for T5
Airports operator BAA has claimed that the airport parking facilities at Terminal Five, due to open at Heathrow Airport in March 2008, will offer "revolutionary" services to passengers.Heathrow's new terminal will offer over 7,000 parking spaces in three new car parks, which are designed to take the 'guesswork' out of finding a space at the airport.
One of the main objectives of the new facilities is to bring passengers as close to the terminal as possible, with a new 3,800 space short-stay car park within walking distance of check-in.
There will also be business parking options and a long-stay car park a short distance from the terminal, served by frequent courtesy coaches.
One of the most important aspects of the Terminal Five parking options will be use of technology, with features such as bay monitoring enabling drivers to reach an empty space as quickly as possible.
Hugh Fenn, BAA travel services director, said: "The new developments at Terminal Five are a sign of the changing needs of 21st century traveller.
"We hope that through increased numbers of spaces and the use of revolutionary technological advances, our airports can cater for every type of traveller providing the most simple and stress-free experience possible."
