More transatlantic services for Heathrow next year
Heathrow Airport will host more transatlantic flights from spring next year, with Continental launching new non-stop services. The airline will begin twice-daily flights to Heathrow from both New York and Houston from March 29th.
Continental is one of the major operators of transatlantic services, with existing connections between the Americas and Birmingham Airport, Manchester Airport, Gatwick Airport and others.
However its services to Heathrow next year will represent the first time it has flown to the UK's biggest airport, following the Open Skies agreement reached between the EU and the US earlier this year.
Larry Kellner, chairman and CEO of Continental, said: "At last we will be able to give our customers something they have long requested the opportunity to fly to both London's main airports with their preferred airline.
"At the same time, we will be able to show transatlantic travellers already using Heathrow what they have been missing. We look forward to the chance to compete at Europe's most important business airport."
Heathrow will be the eighth UK airport to be served by Continental and the 31st destination in its transatlantic route network.
