AA arrival 'significant moment' for Stansted

AA arrival 'significant moment' for StanstedThe recent arrival of American Airlines (AA) at Stansted Airport was one of the most significant moments in the hub's recent history, a BAA spokesperson has said.

AA, the world's largest carrier, is currently operating a daily service to New York JFK from Stansted and will launch twice-daily flights in April 2008.

A representative for airport operator BAA said that the commencement of AA services gave Stansted a "particular cause for celebration".

"It is a significant moment for the airport, with this two-class service complementing perfectly the business class only services operated by MaxJet and Eos, who both serve JFK direct from Stansted," she commented.

"With the introduction of American Airlines both business and leisure passengers will have direct access to the airline's expansive route network from its JFK hub."

From New York JFK the US airline offers flights to nearly 200 destinations across the Americas and the Caribbean.

Other transatlantic flights are available from Stansted Airport to Washington and Toronto.
