Bristol Airport to get Frankfurt link

Bristol Airport to get Frankfurt linkBristol Airport will be linked to Frankfurt in Germany next summer with the launch of a new service from Lufthansa.

Managers at the south-west hub said that the new service will connect local travellers to Lufthansa's "gateway to the world".

The German carrier operates an international network from its Frankfurt base consisting of 13,272 weekly flights to 188 destinations in 79 countries.

From March 30th next year it will offer three daily flights from Bristol to Frankfurt that will be scheduled to offer passengers easy access to onward connections within its network.

Tony Hallwood, aviation development director at Bristol Airport, described the development as "fantastic news".

He added: "This connectivity is also great news for the region's inbound tourism industry, as it opens up new markets for German visitors to Bristol, Bath and beyond."

There will be early morning flights from Bristol that will make it possible for fliers to be in the centre of Frankfurt by 09:30 local time for a day trip in the city.
