Gatwick travel centre 'puts passenger needs first'

Gatwick travel centre 'puts passenger needs first'A spokesperson for Gatwick Airport has claimed that the hub's new onward travel centre is focused on putting the needs of the passenger first.

Caroline Alderson, head of communications for the airport, said there were a number of factors that led to the creation of the travel centre, chief among which were passenger needs and environmental concerns.

"The environmental factor…[is] important to us," she said. "But also, it's about putting the passenger's needs first.

"It brings together all the options for onward travel, which includes taxis, coaches and trains, in one place so that it's very easy to spot when passengers are arriving into Gatwick."

Ms Alderson outlined the plans at Gatwick Airport to encourage 40 per cent of non-transfer passengers to use public transport for onward journeys, an aim that will be supported by the onward travel centre.

Some 32 million passengers pass through Gatwick every year, using services provided by 90 airlines to over 200 destinations around the world.
