New Gatwick service to Jamaica launched

New Gatwick service to Jamaica launchedA new Virgin Atlantic service from Gatwick Airport to Kingston in Jamaica was launched on October 30th.

Flights will leave London every Tuesday and Saturday and return from the Caribbean every Wednesday and Sunday.

Virgin Atlantic chairman Richard Branson welcomed travellers on the inaugural flight to Kingston, which is the airline's second destination in Jamaica following the commencement of services to Montego Bay in July 2006.

Over 70,000 passengers have used the Montego Bay route during its 15 months of operations.

Sir Richard said: "We are delighted to be able to offer new flights to Jamaica so soon after we launched our Montego Bay services last year. We are doubling Virgin Atlantic's capacity between London and Jamaica to almost 200,000 seats a year.

"These new flights will mean that Jamaicans, many of whom have strong links with the UK, will have competitive fares on offer along with the world class service Virgin Atlantic is renowned for."

The airline operates out of Heathrow Airport, Gatwick and Manchester Airport in the UK, offering flights to destinations in the USA, Africa, Australia and Asia.
