More travellers head to Singapore in SeptemberThe popularity of Singapore as a holiday destination continued to rise in September as the country saw a record number of foreign visitors.

Figures released by the country's tourism board showed that it welcomed 766,000 travellers in September, 7.1 per cent more than the previous year.

This is a new record for the month of September. In the preceding month, however, some 913,000 people travelled to Singapore.

The overall number of visitor days spent in Singapore in September reached three million in September, an increase of 17.7 per cent on 2006.

Another record for the month was set in hotel turnover, with some S$152.2 million (£50.7 million) generated in room revenue for hotels, an annual increase of 7.4 per cent.

Flights to Singapore are available from Heathrow Airport and Manchester Airport in the UK, as well as a number of other hubs.
