Gatwick to simplify onward travel

Gatwick to simplify onward travelPassengers using Gatwick Airport will have the onward legs of their journeys made easier from October 29th with the opening of a new travel centre.

The structure will bring together all the public transport services available at Gatwick in one place, in the airport's south terminal on the site of the former smoking area.

Services from providers such as National Express Coaches, Southern Trains, Gatwick Express and other companies will be available at the onward travel centre.

Some £850 million has been earmarked for investment in Gatwick Airport over the next decade and the hub's managers hope to get 40 per cent of non-transfer passengers using public transport for surface journeys in ten years' time.

BAA Gatwick retail director Jo Astor said: "The onward travel centre is one of our many projects designed to put our passengers first.

"The centre will enable our passengers to select their onward travel choice simply from the wide range on offer in one place."

Some 32 million passengers use Gatwick every year, with many travelling to its top three destinations of Malaga, Palma and Alicante.
