New Mauritius service from Heathrow
A new flight from Heathrow Airport to the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius will be made available by Virgin Atlantic this week.The carrier will launch its first flight to the island on October 28th, which will land on the morning of the following day.
On arrival in Mauritius the plane will be greeted by a water salute by the airport fire brigade and disembarking passengers will be welcomed by a local Creole band.
There will be capacity for up to 240 fliers on the Virgin Atlantic flights, with 34 spaces available in upper class and 171 economy seats.
Andrew Fyfe, the airline's regional manager for the Middle East and Indian Ocean, said: "I am really excited that Virgin Atlantic is to serve this beautiful island, our first destination in the Indian Ocean.
"Mauritius offers a range of relaxing spa centres and elegant hotels. Passengers will be spoilt for choice by the range of top class hotels, fine dining opportunities, excellent water sports and world-class golf courses on this tropical paradise."
Virgin Atlantic flies to a number of destinations from Heathrow Airport, including Cape Town, Dubai, Miami and Singapore.
