Ryanair carries 2m from Leeds Bradford to Dublin

Ryanair carries 2m from Leeds Bradford to DublinLeeds/Bradford Airport has handled its two millionth Ryanair passenger flying to Dublin, it has been announced.

The low-cost airline's route from Leeds to the Irish city was launched in 1996, with 70,000 passengers using the connection in the first year.

Since then Ryanair has undergone substantial growth to the point that it expects to carry over 300,000 passengers at Leeds/Bradford this year.

Caroline Baldwin, head of UK sales and marketing for the airline, said: "We're delighted to celebrate this remarkable passenger milestone at Leeds Bradford. It's testament to the huge demand for low-fares air travel in Yorkshire.

"Two million people have now flown to Ireland with Ryanair and we expect this number to increase dramatically with the introduction of our new route to Shannon."

Ryanair's link between Leeds/Bradford and Shannon will come into operation on November 8th.
