Bristol up for award
Bristol Airport is among the nominees for a major travel award, it has been reported.The hub has been shortlisted for the 2008 Globe Travel Awards in the best UK regional airport category, according to the Western Daily Press.
Members of the travel industry decide the winners of the Globe Travel Awards, the ceremony for which will be held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, on January 15th.
Bristol Airport has seen growth in many areas of its business in recent months, with 316,840 scheduled international passengers using the hub in July 2007, representing year-on-year growth of nearly 20 per cent.
In the first half of the year the airport handled over 3.2 million customers, 1.7 per cent more than in the corresponding period of 2006.
It has been forecast that around six million people will pass through Bristol Airport throughout 2007.
In 2005 the hub marked its 75th anniversary and celebrated the fact that, over the course of five years, it doubled its number of passengers and almost tripled its number of scheduled flights.
