Teething troubles for baby milk scheme

Teething troubles for baby milk schemeCardiff Airport authorities have defended the price of baby milk sold at the airport amid concerns that parents were paying over the odds to buy the infants' product at the travel hub.

Following the introduction of security restrictions on the transportation of liquids, many parents with young children found they could not take milk through security barriers onto aircraft.

Ten 100 ml containers could be carried through checkpoints in transparent, resealable plastic bags, while any milk outside of a bag had to be tasted to prove it was not harmful.

A few days ago, Cardiff Airport began selling SMA White and Gold baby milk in 250 ml containers, available before and after security checks.

"We … have taken steps to ensure that parents are provided with the services they require", commented the airport's customer service manager, Margaret James.

Other provisions for mothers with babies include a bottle warmer and microwave, while the airport also boasts baby care rooms and offers paper bibs and plastic spoons.

But some parents have protested at the price of the White and Gold milk which, the Western Mail reports, is double the cost of milk at Asda supermarkets at £1 per carton.
