Britons battle holiday blues

Britons battle holiday bluesBritons are battling the 'just-home holiday blues' as summer ends and holidaymakers return to the workaday world, a survey from Birmingham International Airport has found.

More than two-thirds of holidaymakers from the Midlands feel down after they touch down on British soil, the airport's research revealed.

One in eight people were so appalled by the thought of returning to work the very next day that they stayed in bed instead, while one in16 recaptured that lazy holiday feeling by 'pulling a sickie' one day within the following fortnight.

A daring one in thirty people found the holiday had so transformed their perspective on their work that they quit their jobs after coming home.

The holiday perks most missed by returning travellers including sipping cocktails by the beach, while half the people surveyed said coming back to British weather was a major come-down.

More than one in five, meanwhile, said they missed the cuisine overseas, pointing to one reason behind findings released this week by Beneden Healthcare which revealed that 30 per cent of Britons put on weight while they are on holiday.
