Families 'ditching Britain for adventurous holidays'
Families in the UK are becoming more adventurous in their holiday choices, according to one expert. With the normal holiday locations of Spain and Italy remaining highly popular, millions of parents and their children are heading further afield than down the road to the seaside.
The ease of flights from London airports such as Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport and Stansted Airport as well as a surge in the number of flights from other locations around the country including Manchester Airport and Leeds-Bradford Airport has seen families ditch the promenade for the Riviera.
Lucy Ace, managing director of holiday firm Take the Family, explained: "In my experience with smaller children a warm sandy beach will keep them entertained for hours, mix that with the child friendly cultures of Italy or Spain and you have a winning formula."
She added that families are "definitely becoming more adventurous", with those with young children even heading to South America and the Far East.
And as it is becoming increasingly easy and safe to leave you car in airport parking at most of the nation's large airports, families can jet off to the sun without worrying about the cold British weather or the car breaking down on the way to the beach.
