UK houses top airport lounges

Three UK airport lounges have been named in a list of the top ten most luxurious places to relax pre-flight in the world.

Travel writer Jeffrey Mills reported in the Telegraph that the UK houses some of the best lounges to prepare for a long journey with some of them offering facilities such as spas and hairdressing salons.

Those praised by Mr Mills were the First Class Concorde Room lounge at Heathrow Airport for first-class British Airways passengers, the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse - also at Heathrow - and the British Airways Terraces at Gatwick Airport.

Among the luxuries on hand to passengers in these airport lounges are massages, gourmet restaurants, internet access and even Molten Brown Travel Spas.

Mr Mills described the staff at the First Class Concorde Room as "professional, well presented and charming", while the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse was said to have "virtually everything you could possibly want, including big screen TVs broadcasting business news".

Lounges by Lufthansa, Emirates and Cathay Pacific at airports in Frankfurt, Dubai and Hong Kong respectively were also highlighted by Mr Mills.
