Travellers tempted by Manchester airport

Travellers tempted by Manchester airportManchester and Liverpool are becoming increasingly popular airports, as British travellers embrace the potential for getting away in the north-west.

That is the view of a leading industry figure, John Seymour, who is chief executive at EuroManx Airways, the Isle of Man airline.

With the advent of more traffic on planes and the rise in prominence of sites such as Manchester and Liverpool, he claimed the popularity of the locations for holidaymakers was on the rise.

He singled out the two sites as "providing easier gateways for onward international connections and smoother and quicker access" for both business travellers and tourists.

Earlier this month Manchester Airport was also singled out for a different reason, scooping a gong from the Big Tick Awards for its work with local people to improve the region's economic prospects.

Manchester Airport was shortlisted for the prestigious award as a result of its provision of employment and its efforts to remove barriers for job recruitment.
