Manchester Airport clamps down on troublemakers

Manchester Airport clamps down on troublemakersCivilised passengers at Manchester Airport will be pleased to learn that local police are to get tough on holidaymakers being anti-social in airport lounges.

Rowdy passengers whose behaviour gets out of hand will be banned from Manchester Airport under a new scheme put in place by Manchester police force.

A new zero tolerance approach will be adopted by the police at Manchester Airport after talks with both UK airlines and the Crown Prosecution Service.

Manchester Airport commander, Superintendent Peter Turner, said to the Bolton News: "The police are here to support the air industry to ensure the airport runs smoothly, and we will deal firmly with anyone causing disruption."

The news is sure to delight holidaymakers who have their experiences of airport lounges disrupted by other passengers and Mr Turner added: "We have procedures in place with airlines to ensure that any passengers causing trouble are dealt with robustly, and this could mean offenders being arrested or given fixed penalty notices."

Passengers are also advised by Manchester Airport's head of security, Mike Fazackerley, to make sure that they arrive at airport lounges in good time ahead of flights as increased security measures are in place.
