Norwich Airport loses two flights
Flights to two Spanish destinations have been axed from Norwich Airport, resulting in ructions between the airport and budget airline Flybe.According to Niall Duffy, Flybe's head of communications, the airline had been offered little choice but to withdraw flights from Norwich Airport to both Malaga and Alicante due to aiport taxes rising.
However, this claim is disputed by the managing director at Norwich Airport, Richard Jenner who explained that other low-cost airlines were offering larger planes, more frequent flights and lower seat prices for passengers.
The £3 airport development fee introduced at the airport may be used to pay for heightened security and was said to be the reason that Flybe will no longer be offering flights to Malaga and Alicante from Norwich Airport.
When asked about the levy, Mr Duffy added: "This is the most competitive industry in terms of profit margins - there is nothing like it. Customers are that sensitive."
As a result of the flights being withdrawn to two of Spain's most popular destinations it seems that airport parking and airport lounges may be a little less crowded at Norwich Airport for the time being.

I was totally disgusted with Norwich Airport levying a tax called air port development tax. I have been using this Airport almost weekly sometimes in my business as a service engineer for 18 years. I have now decided to drive to Birmingham and travel from there from now on. Giving up on both Norwich Airport and KLM. To expect a passenger to fund the airport development when Britain currently has about the highest airport taxes in the world is disgusting. My company actually has to pay this expense but with me it's the principal. maybe when Norwich loses all its regular passengers it may see the error of its greed. Or just settle for the once a year punter to Spain or where ever they go.
