Hero taxi driver has parking ticket cancelled
An industrious taxi driver who helped take on terrors suspects at Glasgow Airport last weekend has had a parking ticket he was given waived.Alex McIlveen, 45, who left his taxi at the airport after two men with gas canisters drove into the Terminal One at Glasgow Airport, found he had been given a £30 parking ticket when he returned to his car after police questioning the next morning.
While police initially said that the father of two would have to pay the fine, a call from Scottish newspaper the Daily Record helped persuade the fine to be dropped.
Commenting on the news, Mr McIlveen told the paper he was "delighted", noting that the police "realised it would be unfair to charge me".
He added: "I've ended up losing quite a lot of money already after spending so much time getting interviewed by police when I should have been out driving."
