Glasgow Airport 'back in business'

Glasgow Airport 'back in business'BAA has revealed that Glasgow Airport is "back in business" following the recent terrorist attack on the main terminal building.

The operator, which also runs Edinburgh Airport and Aberdeen Airport north of the border, was forced to cancel nine flights at Glasgow yesterday (July 2nd), but insisted that flights were now operating normally.

BAA also suggested that both Terminal 1 and 2 on the site were functioning regularly.

Of the nine flights cancelled, four were departures and five were arrivals. BAA revealed that Glasgow Airport would usually handle around 300 flights per day and around 35,000 flyers were expected to pass through the site yesterday alone.

Future passengers are still being urged to contact their airline before setting off to Glasgow Airport, as a number of flights were hit by delays yesterday.

Any travellers flying out from the UK concerned about delays may want to consider booking airport hotels or airport lounges – which can be a welcome change of pace in the hectic airport environment.

Airport spokesman Donald Morrison said yesterday: "Just three per cent of flights have been cancelled today which is good news for passengers and shows very clearly that the airport is back to business and operating normally."
