Airport ATMs to dish out foreign money
The flying experience at London's major airports is set to be enhanced further, with the addition of new cash machines that dispense foreign currency, the Times reveals. Many flyers will no longer be forced to face arduous queues at bureau de change in order to obtain their international travel money.
Euros and Dollars will be available at the ATMs at the same exchange rate as the bureau, but unlike many of the booths, will be on hand 24 hours a day. As well as this, commission will not be charged by the machine operators.
Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport and Stansted Airport are the UK's three largest and already cater for the needs of millions of travellers with a host of airport hotels, airport parking zones and airport lounges.
The machines are set to be introduced at UK airports and international train stations following successful trials at Luton, Waterloo and Gatwick.
Raphaels Bank operates the machines and claims the popularity of the scheme has been marked.
Raphaels Bank group director of marketing and strategy, Mike Smith said: "With currency dispensing ATMs being installed in more and more locations for travellers, there's a new way to get Euros or Dollars which is quick, easy to use, convenient and good value."
