Flyers eyeing up Russian alternative
A new online flight booking site called Alternative Airlines has revealed that bookings for domestic flights to Russia has soared recently. The site specialises in providing services to routes that tend to be ignored by other travel providers and it has reported a greater percentage of interest in Russia of late than previously anticipated.
Alternative Airlines managing director John Pope suggested that Russian aviation was "booming", with more western built aircraft being used by Russian carriers.
"It is no longer the case that every passenger has to transit through Moscow to get to a major regional city, now there are many alternative routings which offer cheaper, faster and more convenient ways of flying within Russia," he explained.
"For many businessmen who make their own travel arrangements, it is imperative that these journeys can be booked on-line and Alternative Airlines now makes this possible."
Tickets for Alternative Airlines flights can be obtained at its service centre at Gatwick Airport.
Gatwick Airport is one of BAA's seven UK airports, which includes Aberdeen Airport, Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh Airport in Scotland.
