Business travellers opting for regional airports
More and more of the UK's business travellers are choosing to fly from smaller regional airports, according to recent reports. After the latest traffic statistics revealed that traffic was down slightly at Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport last month, it seems growth at the UK's smaller airports is improving.
And the Evening Standard revealed that traffic at smaller London airports, including Luton Airport, was on the rise.
The article suggested that although growth at Stansted Airport was at double digit levels since 2000 and handled around 25 million passengers a year, the airport experienced a 3.4 per cent dip last month.
But the signs are more positive for Luton Airport, where traffic rose by ten per cent last month compared to a year ago.
Business travellers are the most likely to use airport hotels and airport parking areas and Stansted and Luton both offer comprehensive support facilities for their flyers.
Meanwhile, a recent study by research firm ICM revealed that 88 per cent of business flyers felt access to a Wi-Fi network when travelling was imperative.
Another 55 per cent suggested they were working more away from the office now than they were two years ago.
