Aberdeen Airport boasts busy April figures
BAA has revealed the traffic figures at its seven UK airports for the month of April and it makes great reading for the growing Aberdeen Airport. In total, BAA's seven sites handled 12.2 million passengers for the month, but the numbers represented a 1.6 per cent decline compared to April 2006.
However, Aberdeen Airport and Edinburgh Airport were BAA's best performers last month, with traffic growing 8.2 per cent and 3.6 per cent respectively.
In the major markets, European scheduled traffic was up 0.1 per cent, with other long-haul traffic rising by 1.1 per cent.
But European charter traffic dipped by 13.8 per cent and this was clearly evident in the figures from BAA's three major London airports.
Traffic at Heathrow Airport fell by 2.5 per cent and Gatwick Airport was down 0.8 per cent, while Stansted Airport also saw a decline of 3.4 per cent.
Aberdeen Airport is the third largest in Scotland, behind Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh Airport, but has been growing at a dramatic rate in recent months.
It is located five miles from the city centre in Dyce and has a fine array of airport hotels suitable for leisure and business travellers alike.
