Leeds Bradford Airport coup for Bridgepoint

Private equity firm Bridgepoint has been chosen as the preferred bidder for Leeds Bradford.

The firm beat off competition from four other high profile bidders to be selected by the five West Yorkshire councils selling their stake in the airport.

Leeds Bradford dealt with around 2.6 million passengers in 2006 and the airport is set to earn the councils well over £100 million.

The councils were pleased by Bridgepoint's ambitious plans, which include expanding the airport and increasing destinations.

A joint statement by the councils was reported by the BBC News, saying: "This is a very exciting opportunity and we are delighted to announce Bridgepoint as the preferred bidder at this stage.

"They have clearly demonstrated not just their financial standing and their plans for growing and developing the airport, but also their commitment to the region as a whole and the airport's crucial part in its economy."

The airport is situated between the two cities and if you are flying out from Leeds Bradford anytime soon, you can find great deals here on airport lounges here at BookFHR.com.
