Leeds Bradford buyer to be picked

Leeds Bradford buyer to be pickedThe winning bidder to take on Leeds Bradford Airport will be selected next week in a deal expected to be worth over £100 million.

Around 60 companies originally set their sights on the Yorkshire airport but the list has been narrowed down to five firms.

Leeds Bradford is just one of many UK regional airports that you can book airport lounges for here at BookFHR.com.

A preferred bidder and reserve buyer will be selected on Wednesday for the stake owned by five West Yorkshire councils.

The potential buyers are Barclays Private Equity and Churchill Airports, Albertis-owned TBI group, Dutch bank ABN Amro, construction giants Balfour Beatty and Bridgepoint Infrastructure Fund.

Part of the deal to buy the airport is that the name remains the same and employees are assured that pension plans similar to the ones they currently hold must be offered.

Leeds Bradford International Airport has been under public ownership since it was opened in 1931.

The first tour holiday flight to leave the airport was in 1976 to the Iberian Peninsula and the first wide-body aircraft to operate there was a Boeing 767 British Airways flight to Palma.
