Passengers enjoy Dublin's fair city

Passengers enjoy Dublin's fair cityDublin is becoming more popular than ever to fly to with the city's major airport reporting a rise in the number of passengers heading in and out of its doors since 2005.

The latest figures show that Dublin International Airport welcomed 14 per cent more people this February than the same month two years ago.

According to the Dublin Airport Authority, more than 1.5 million passengers used the airport last month with 640,000 travelling to the UK and back.

Another 700,000 flew to and from continental Europe bringing the figures for the year so far up to nearly three million.

But it is unlikely that these numbers will fall any time soon, especially considering the St Patrick's Day celebrations which are set to hit the city next week.

The event on March 17th looks set to get thousands of people heading to Ireland to enjoy the street parties and parades on offer.

Most people in the country take it as an excuse to party all week long and from March 15th to 19th there will be music, street theatre, family carnivals, comedy, street performances, dances and treasure hunts on offer.

With 4,000 performers and one million people celebrating Ireland, Dublin is definitely the place to be.
