Leeds/Bradford sees flights to twin city

Leeds/Bradford Airport has announced that the first direct connection between Leeds and its twin city, Lille, has now opened for business.

Starting next from April 23rd, the new direct international service to and from the northern French city to Leeds/Bradford will be operated by airline bmi regional.

Flights will operate between the twinned cities six days a week, with schedules to suit both business and leisure travellers and excellent connections offered between Leeds/Bradford and Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The first direct UK flight to Lille, the new services will create an important link between the two industrial centres between Sunday and Friday, with one-way tickets starting at £59 including fees and charges.

Stewart Adams, managing director of bmi regional, commented: "Leeds and Lille already share a common and special link with their twin-city status. This important new air link will not only serve to strengthen that bond in terms of both business and tourism, but will also raise their respective profiles and encourage more opportunities."

Lille airport officials have also welcomed the new route, highlighting the "close business and historical relationship" between the two cities.
