East Midlands loses Manx2 services

East Midlands loses Manx2 servicesEast Midlands Airport is to lose its service to the Isle of Man from the airline Manx2 due to a lack of passenger demand.

From July 4th services will cease to operate between the travel hub and Ronaldsway Airport. Passengers who have already booked seats will be able to rebook on another service or ask for a full refund.

Manx2 will continue to serve LeedsBradford Airport, Gloucester Airport, Newcastle Airport, Belfast Airport and Blackpool Airport.

Chairman of the carrier Noel Hayes said that there are a number of factors behind the decision, including the increase in the number of seats available to the Isle of Man at a time when passenger numbers are falling.

"This decline has been partly caused by reduced transfer traffic following easyJet's complete withdrawal from East Midlands Airport; also bad weather and ash disruptions," he added.

Mr Hayes said that the airlines easyJet and Flybe were currently dominating the network of flights to the Isle of Man.

Flybe currently operates from 38 different airports in the UK, more than any other airline.
