New award for Best Musical

2006 will see the launch of a new award for "Best Musical" which will be voted for by the listeners of the internet radio station TheatreRadio.

As we come to the end of a year in which the West End has seen 20 new musicals joining an extensive list of productions already playing in London, the future would appear to be bright for the UK's theatre land.

This "new award" will be based on the listenings public opinion. To qualify, the production must have opened in 2006, but will include new productions of old musicals, so the voting public will have quite a choice.
