All change at Nottingham East Midlands Airport, again!

In a move which has been described as "absolutely mad" by the leader of Nottingham council, Jon Collins. Airport Bosses at Nottingham East Midlands have decided on yet another change of name.

This time changing the title to: East Midlands Airport - Nottingham, Leicester, Derby.

The Airports Managing Director Penny Coates, dismissed any criticism of another name change within three years, stating that the decision had been welcomed by business leaders, adding "We believe this change is the right commercial decision now" which could be read by some as a hint that another name change in the future could not be ruled out.

It is reported that since adding Nottingham to the airport title in the last re-branding exercise, some passengers felt unhappy as the airport is actually located at Castle Donington in Leicestershire, with Derby being the closest city.

This first name change was also criticised by a Derby MP as undermining attempts to give the East Midlands a stronger identity. Bob Laxton, MP for Derby at the time, also described the change to Nottingham East Midlands Airport as "daft" and "confusing" he is also quoted as having said "One of the things that a number of people and organisations have been trying to do is get some identity for the East Midlands"

In these times of changes, it's good to know that at least one thing remains constant and that is the FHR commitment to providing airport hotels that offer value for money and airport parking at great prices.
