Liverpool airport increases in popularity
Holidaymakers travelling from Liverpool Airport may wish to book their airport hotels and parking early, as the facility has experienced a significant boost in popularity.New figures show that passenger numbers were up 15 per cent in the first three months of 2010 compared to the same period in 2009.
Since last year KLM, Eastern Airways, easyJet and RyanAir have all added new services from Liverpool Airport, which has contributed to the facility's success.
Next month, KLM will be adding an additional flight to Amsterdam.
Neil Pakey, deputy chief executive officer for Peel Airports, said: "Improved accessibility from across the region means that Liverpool Airport is becoming the airport of choice for growing numbers of travellers from right across the north-west."
Changes are also taking place at the airport which will see new shops opening in the departure lounge over the coming months.
Figures released by BAA earlier this month revealed that Heathrow Airport suffered majorly from the British Airways cabin crew strikes.
The hub is believed to have lost around 180,000 passengers because of the industrial action.
