Edinburgh Airport to be reconnected with Barcelona
Edinburgh Airport is to be reconnected with Barcelona with a new service from Spanair. The Scottish capital has been without a link to the Spanish city since Flyglobespan collapsed at the end of 2009.
Starting May 21st and operating throughout the summer, flights will leave every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Mike Szucs, chief executive officer of Spanair, said: "Via our new hub in Barcelona, passengers will enjoy connections to a range of Spanish peninsula cities and Islands, which they could otherwise only reach during the peak season with low-cost and charter carriers."
Birmingham Airport will also receive two new Spanair services to Madrid and Barcelona.
From May 20th, services will run each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to Barcelona and from May 25th Madrid can be reached from Birmingham Airport each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The Barcelona service will help replace the bmibaby route to the Spanish City, which is due to finish on June 7th.
