Crowds greet David Beckham at Manchester Airport
Crowds were on hand at Manchester Airport to welcome David Beckham back to the UK on Tuesday March 9th.The midfielder was returning to the UK for the Champions League match on Wednesday which will see AC Milan take on Manchester United.
Upon his arrival at Manchester Airport, Beckham was given an enthusiastic welcome by the dozens of fans, photographers and reporters who had turned out to greet him, even though he now plays for the Italian club.
As for the prospects of the upcoming match, Beckham said: "Coming back to Manchester as a Milan player is exciting. It will be a tough game for us but nothing is impossible."
United emerged as the victors in the first round with a result of 3-2.
In other Manchester Airport news, it was announced earlier this week that Monarch is to start a new service between the northern travel hub and the Greek island of Santorini.
Flights will run every Tuesday from May 5th and a similar service has also been launched from Gatwick Airport.
