wickedThe stage show Wicked only began previewing in London this September and has so far been a huge success story, breaking box office records. In the past week alone, the show has grossed over three quarters of a million pounds in tickets sales, exceeding box office takings for any other show currently playing in the West End. (It is claimed that over 18,000 people attended the show last week) Wicked's first public performance was on the 7th of September 2006, since then over 130,000 people are said to have seen the production. The musical is based on Gregory Maguire's best-selling novel about the Witches of Oz and tells the story of how one ended up being a Good Witch and the other a Wicked Witch. The cast features Idina Menzel as Elphaba, Helen Dallimore plays Glinda, Adam Garcia is Fiyero, Miriam Margolyes in the role of Madame Morrible, Nigel Planer takes to the stage as The Wizard, with Martin Ball playing Doctor Dillamond, and Katie Rowley Jones treading the boards as Nessarose. Idina Menzel who won a Tony Award for her part in the Broadway production of Wicked, will leave the cast of the show at the end of this year. Kerry Ellis will then take over the part of Elphaba from January 2007. Click here to book your tickets for this record breaking show
