Globespan flights from Glasgow Airport, Aberdeen and Edinburgh are cancelled
Passengers who were due to travel from Glasgow Airport, Aberdeen or Edinburgh with flyglobespan have been advised not to travel to the airports following the news that the company has gone bust. The airports are advising people who are not able to reschedule their flights to enquire with the government's ATOL protection scheme to see if they are covered.
Amanda McMillan, managing director at Glasgow Airport, said they would be doing everything they could to assist holidaymakers.
"We are working with a number of airlines to secure extra capacity to many of the most popular destinations previously served by flyglobespan," she added.
Flyglobespan operated ten winter routes from Glasgow Airport including Alicante, Palma, Paphos, Malaga, Sharm el Sheikh and Dalaman.
An Aberdeen Airport spokeswoman commented that it was "disappointing news".
Passengers who are stranded in Faro, Malaga or Alicante will be able to return to Glasgow Airport for £60 per person, thanks to a rescue package organised by EasyJet.
