Heathrow Airport gets world's largest mistletoe
Passengers travelling from Heathrow Airport may get more than they bargained for when they come across the world's largest sprig of mistletoe.Heathrow's Terminal 5 now boasts the ten foot by eight foot structure, which is suspended three metres above the ground.
Mike Brown, chief operating officer at the travel hub, said the airport was usually a place where people were reunited with friends and family.
"We hope our giant mistletoe bring some added Christmas cheer and excitement to journeys taken over the festive period," he added.
Terminal 5's giant mistletoe will be followed by similar structures in the airport's other terminals.
Almost three million passengers are expected to pass through Heathrow Airport this Christmas, with half a million travelling between December 19th and Christmas Eve.
In Terminal 5, staff are predicting one million customers during this period, with two million kisses expected under the mistletoe.
The custom of kissing under the mistletoe is said to have originated in Scandinavia.
Worldwide, there are more than 1,000 different species of mistletoe.
