New stars join Swayze
Maybe in an attempt to offer something to the partners of the many women flocking to see Patrick Swayze in his extended run of playing Nathan Detroit in the London stage production of Guys and Dolls. The cast will soon see the arrival of Samantha Janus and Amy Nuttall, who are due to join Mr Swayze and co, on the 16th October 2006.
Television favourite Samantha Janus is set to play Miss Adelaide, long-suffering fiancée of Nathan Detroit (Patrick Swayze). The part of missionary Sarah Brown is played by Amy Nuttall, who found fame as Chloe Atkinson in the TV soap Emmerdale. Amy's stage credits include playing Eliza Dolittle in the UK tour of Trevor Nunn’s award winning My Fair Lady and was lead understudy for the role of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera when she was just 16.
In Guys and Dolls, Amy will star opposite another new addition to the cast-Norman Bowman, who will play the gambler Sky Masterson, taking over from Adam Cooper.
Bowman should find no problems stepping in to the role that until now he has been understudying. To date his stage career has included the West end hit Les Misérables as well as several UK tours.
This is the latest in a string of cast changes since Guys and Dolls first opened at the Piccadilly 15 months ago. The original quartet of Laurence Olivier Award-nominated cast members included Ewan McGregor, Jane Krakowski, Jenna Russell and Douglas Hodge.
Since then, several house hold names have been cast in Guys and Dolls, such as Neil Morrissey, Claire Sweeney, Sarah Lancashire and Nigel Harman.
Patrick Swayze has played Nathan Detroit since July 2006, and has twice extended his run, this latest extension is due to take him up to the 25th November 2006.
